Self Determination

Self Determination means that you have control of the resources needed for your support as well as responsibility for your decisions and actions. You have the power to make decisions and truly control your life. You have control over financial resources as well as authority to decide what supports you need. You can choose to get services that are listed in this handbook or you can custom design a program and choose who you want to provide your services and supports.

HCDDS knows you can make decisions about your life. You can decide what is important to you and design your supports to meet your needs and desires. You know best what you need to make your life the best it can be.

If you have other ideas or needs, the Adult Services Department can help you figure out how these needs can be met. You may set up your own supports to meet your own specific needs or ideas. This is called an Individual Budget. You can design your own plan and will help you find money and supports to meet your wishes. Your Service Facilitator can help you find out how to do this.
